Tick-Tock – The Tick is BACK in 2016… maybe

Who would have believed that the big guy in blue… Not Superman, the other blue guy… No, not the genie from Aladdin… I mean, the Tick – would be celebrating his 30th birthday already? The sariric superhero came into being back in 1986 as a mere mascot for NEC (New England Comics). But as superhero origin stories go, things… changed, and soon enough, what started out as an absurd comic book character began to catch on, like a… a tick. It earned a standalone comic series in 1988, then its own animated series on fox in 1994, a live action TV series in 2001, a computer game and ever growing popularity.

Fast forward a few years, 2016 marks not only the Tick’s 30th birthday, but also his return to television, this time with Peter Serafinowicz inheriting the um… mental (case) from Patrick Warburton. This incarnation of the character, is directed by Wally Pfister, and is to be aired on Amazon Video. Let us hope that this run of the series will last longer than the last one, which jumped high and crashed hard after only nine episodes. From what we can see in the trailers, as well as from the pilot which aired on August 19th, there is much to expect. May the “SPOON!!!” be with it.
